Arizona is located in the Rocky Mountains region of southwestern US. It is the sixth largest state with a total area of 114,000 sq miles. Arizona was incorporated to the Union on February 14, 1912. Arizona extends about 340 miles (547 km) East - West  while the state's maximum North - South extension is 395 miles (636 km).

Arizona is bordered on the North by Utah and on the East by New Mexico, on the South by the Mexican state of Sonora; and on the West by the Mexican state of Baja California Norte, California, and Nevada. Arizona is one of the Four Corners states.
